Transformed by the Spirit, 10.2.16
October 10, 2016
Sanctification (the process of God making us holy) is totally a work of God and we are totally involved in the process. Part of the way we allow the Holy Spirit to do this work is to:
-Practice repentance
-Practice disciplines of “No”
-Practice disciplines of “Yes”
Closing the message, we encouraged people to begin their days that week by practicing the prayers of intention (below)
Prayers of Intention:
Prayer of presenting: (Romans 12:1-2)
Lord, I am here, I present myself to you. Here I am.
Prayer of Recollection: (Philippians 3:7-9)
God, whatever I do today, I want to do it in You. I don’t want to do this alone, in my own power or as a way to hide and cover. I don’t want to find my identity in anything but Christ. I am in Christ and that is my identity (confess any idolatry).”
Prayer of Honesty: (Psalm 139:23-24, Psalm 51:1-2)
“Lord, What is going on in my heart right now with You, with others, with my life, my situations? Search me, O God, and know my heart. Open my heart to You today in truth, lest I deceive myself (confess any sin).”
Prayer of Discernment: (Galatians 5:25)
Lord, what are You doing and what is it that You want me to become and do if I am to do Your will? Help me live by the Spirit
